Designed by legendary American designer Robert Trent Jones, Valderrama was the location of the Ryder Cup in 1997 and many times of the Volvo Master event, and is widely regarded as one of the world’s best golf courses. 

The Volvo Masters is celebrating it’s sponsorship of this great tournament by holding it’s 20th year at this great course.

Situated in Sotogrande, at the heart of the Andalucia region of southern Spain, Valderrama offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean and the Rock of Gibraltar, and boasts vast, generous fairways and expansive, perfectly kept greens elevated and surrounded by devious bunkers. 

The par 5, with its two-tiered green, is the course’s most famous hole and a real treat to play.  In fact, if you ask any golfer who has experienced Valderrama to describe it to you, they would doubtless use the word ‘special’, as this majestic course absolutely is.

With such demand and high standard of this course prices here are more expensive than most of the other courses on the Costa Del Sol but do not let that deter you as this is most certainly worth the money you pay for it.

The course is a par 71 and is 6356 metres long, suitable for most handicap levels.

In keeping with its surrounding environment, Valderamma feel that they should take responsibility for maintaining the safety and well-being of the environement.

Therefore the course has a number of wildlife sanctuaries dotted around the course.

Many golf courses claim to be world class. 

Valderrama is one of the few that truly deserve such an accolade.
